Prof. Dr. Milan Kljajin was born on the 27th December, 1949. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb (the University of Zagreb) (Mechanical Engineering) in 1974 and received his BSc in mechanical engineering. Milan Kljajin received his MSc in 1982 and his PhD in 1995 in mechanical engineering from the University of Zagreb. Title of his PhD thesis was "Research of Boundary Regions of Teethed Pair Load Capacity". He was appointed assistant professor in 1996, associate professor in 1999, and full professor in 2003.
At present Prof. Dr. M. Kljajin is full professor for Machine Design in Mechanical Engineering and Head of Laboratory for Product Development – LECAD Slavonski Brod at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Slavonski Brod, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek (Croatia). He has been running undergraduate course in Technical Drawing, Machine Design, Machine Elements and CAD at the same Faculty since 1980 (it was part time work to 1990). During the period of time from 1975 to 1990 he was employed as Mechanical Design Engineer, Sr. Design Engineer, Product Engineer, Manager and Development Director at the Factory of Vehicles and Equipment s.p.o. in Slavonski Brod. From 1976 to 1980 he was also employed part time at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb working as Assistant and Lecturer.
Prof. Dr. M. Kljajin is the author of about 60 papers, published in Croatian and international periodicals or in the proceedings from national and international conferences. He actively participated in more then 50 symposia in Croatia and abroad. He has been involved in 2 bilateral and 8 Croatian research projects. He conducted last three years two projects supported by Croatia government (the first was "Modular system for recycling waste from electrical and electronic equipment" – technology project and the second was/is "System for ecological product evaluation" – scientific project). His scientific interests refer to theory in mechanical engineering design and its application in practice, recycling, ecodesign and diagnostic of failure to improve design. At present Prof. Dr. M. Kljajin is also technical editor of Tehnički vjesnik/Technical Gazette, the scientific-professional journal of technical faculties of the University of Osijek. He attends International Summer School at Scientific Academy of Lower Austria in Krems and the Outside Institute of Technical University of Vienna in 1993. Having received DAAD scholarship for study stay Prof. Dr. M. Kljajin studied at the Technical University of Berlin in 1997. The main field of study was theory of mechanical engineering design – design for assembly/disassembly and design for recycling. He is good speaking, writing and understanding English, German and Russian language.
