LECAD Belgrade - Laboratory for design in mechanical engineering

LECAD Belgrade was founded at the end of 2011, and joined to LECAD group (LECAD Ljubljana, LECAD Zenica, LECAD Slavonski Brod and LECAD Novi Sad) in the form of contracting between University of Belgrade and University of Ljubljana which is founder and group leader. Laboratory for design in mechanical engineering is result of extensive work in the course of the past many years in area of machine systems development, conditions analysis, design and redesign. Founding of education module “Design in mechanical engineering” 2005 year at the Faculty of mechanical engineering, University of Belgrade, this activities got the form to be expressed as laboratory LECAD Belgrade. This Laboratory for Design in mechanical engineering is multidisciplinary oriented and includes personality from the set of Faculty divisions which cover areas such as Design methodology, Decision making, Bionic (Biomimetrics), Aesthetics, Ergonomics, Ecology, Integrated systems (mechanical, electronic, software,…). The leader of LECAD Belgrade is prof. dr Milosav Ognjanović.

Aims of Founding and Action of LECAD Belgrade

In surrounding, Serbian, Balkan and wither, do not exist tradition in product development. Production and economy are based at production of products developed predominantly abroad. The main aim is to change this situation by education of the new engineers, by research and industrial projects and by wide cooperation with institutions and organisations in the region and abroad. The trend in the area of product development contains multidisciplinary integration, multiregional or intercontinental cooperation. One level of this cooperation is association of LECAD Belgrade to LECAD Group in order to provide much better conditions for this action in united form. LECAD Belgrade includes all aspects, methods and tools for product development and design. Design analysis and synthesis together with CAD tools, FEM and 3D technologies are oriented to improve existing technical systems and develop new in cooperation with industry and other institutions. Participation in LECAD group has to provide potentials for cooperation with industry and other institutions in Serbia and abroad. Knowledge transfer inside of LECAD group and students mobility (MSc and PhD) in the group are also one of the basic aims.

Programme of Activities of LECAD Belgrade - Laboratory for design in mechanical engineering

Activities of LECAD Belgrade at the first place are directed to education process at all the three Bologna levels, BSc, MSc and PhD. The second group of activities contains research and publishing of results in journals and presentation at international conferences including conference organization. Thread group presents solving industrial problems in the form of condition analyze of design structures, design of the new machine systems and redesign of existing systems. All three groups LECAD - Belgrade activities can be quoted as follows:
  • Development, design and redesign of machine systems
    • design methodology, methods and environment
    • modeling, analysis, simulation and calculation (CAD, FME, 3D technologies)
    • condition monitoring and diagnosis.
  • Analytic, numeric and experimental research of design phenomenon and indicators of design behaviour.
    • fatigue, reliability, vibration and noise
    • gears and gear train transmission units.
  • Harmonisation of technical systems with environment in ergonomic and ecological sense.
  • Aestetic of technical systems.
